Short-Circuit and Earth Fault Indicators

Short -circuit Indicators (SCIs)

SCIs are used for quicker indentification of a short circuit in medium voltage network systems. Since there is no directional indication, the SCIs can only be applied in radial or open ring networks.

Earth Fault Indicators (EFIs)

EFIs are used for quicker indentification of an earth fault in medium voltage network systems. Since there is no directional indication, the EFIs can only be applied in radial or open ring networks.

Application

Fault Indicators can be used in radial networks or in openly operated ringed networks. The path of the fault curretn from the feeding point to the fault locator which has been triggered fault locators. The defective conductor segment is located between the last fault locator which has been triggered and the first fault locator which is still inactive.
