The FCI-Navigator is a fully electronic indicator primarily designed for utility overhead lines of medium voltage.
lt consists of a black polyamid housing with a clamping mechanism from stainless steel, a transparent cap, the indication unit with LEDs and the electronic circuit encapsulated in resin compound.
The indicator has an built-in battery control. When the battery runs down from 400 hours to 50 hours remaining flashing capacity, a yellow LED starts blinking for 1/2 a year.
The indicator is energized by changeable lithium long- time batteries with a life expectancy of 15-20 years.
The FCI can be installed on an overhead line and removed from it by a Hot Stick. The indication has an excellent visibility from all sides
The FCI-Navigator has a load levelling characteristic. This means; the FCI constantly monitors the current magnitude(load) on the line and electronically adjusts reference trip current for a fault (selfadjusting). If a fault current trips the indicator, extremly bright red LEDs will flash until reset.
Special characteristics for different types:
FCI-Navigator LM, version A
Indication by 4 red and 2 yellow LED. The reset is done automatically either by return of current or by time, whichever occurs first or manually.
FCI-Navigator LM, version B
Indication by 4 red and 2 yellow LED. The reset is done automatically by time or manually.
FCI-Navigator LM, version C
Indication by 4 red and 2 yellow LEDs. Resetting of red LEDs by return of current on the line or by time, whichever occurs first or manually. Resetting of yellow LEDs by time or manually.
FCI-Navigator LM, version E
The indication of this type is immune against inrush currents. It senses the line current and the line voltage. The indication can‘t be activated, before the line is under voltage for at least 60 secs. Thus higher inrush currents and recloser cycling are blocked for indication.
Indication by 4 red and 2 yellow LEDs. Resetting by return of voltage on the line or -by time- whichever occurs first or manually.
