The phase comparator type Compare 2.0 is a single-pole phase comparator for voltages from 5-36kV in accordance with standard EN 61481 (IEC 61481:2001) . The device is used to check either live conductor in a medium-voltage supply network for "In-phase" or Out-of-phase" condition.
The phase comparator is designed to be used in wet conditions, either indoors or outdoors.
Four bright LED’s in the colours white, blue, green and red indicates various operational conditions. The phase comparator is switched on/off and can be set on three different voltage ranges by a single switch. The device is supplied by two long-term lithium batteries that must not be exchanged between two maintenance tests.
Confirming to Class B of the standard, "Out-of phase" appears at a phase angle between 60° and 300°.
Phase indicating measurement
When the phase comparator is switched on to a optional range, a self functional test is carried out to determine that the comparator is working correctly. The phase comparison is realized by contacting the conductors one after the other. The second conductor has to be contacted within 10 seconds. A microcontroller determines the phase position of the two voltages to each other. The green LED ("In-phase") and the red LED ("Out-of-phase") indicates the result of the measurement.
